The Fundamental aim of Pilates is to develop core stability and a uniformly strong and flexible body. This is achieved over time with a strict exercise regime which at the beginner level starts out on mats and at the intermediate and advanced levels involve increased use of Pilates mat props.
In the early stages most beginners classes will be mat classes, featuring mat exercises custom designed to your particular needs with the aim of increasing your body flexibility and strength. Pilates mat classes at Almaden Pilates will start you down the road to Body Toning, Flexibility, Posture Improvement, Efficient movement and the mental focus required to move onto intermediate and Advanced levels.
The Pilates mat and exercise ball can be (and are) used through all levels of Pilates from beginner to expert using exercises with varying intensity to achieve your goals. This is a great benefit as it avoids you having to cope with familiarizing yourself with new equipment during a class.
